Beginnings are hard.
Hi Friends! I have finally decided to publish a personal post about myself. I often write about personal finance, self-development and mindset because that is something that I am passionate about. I realise I do not have as many blog posts about myself. I hope this post helps you to get to know me a little better. Do leave a comment or message as well so I get to know you a little better too.
Personal background and information
I have lived in 3 continents of the world so far, some might call me a digital nomad.
I am incredibly privileged to see how my life looks like in different countries and it looks a little different in every country down to the friends I have, the food I eat, the things I do and the lifestyle I have. The experience has been life-changing for me and I wouldn't change a thing.
I grew up in Malaysia (Asia), lived in Ireland (Europe) and now in Australia (Oceania).
It has been quite an adventure because it has given me the unique perspective of seeing many new people, cultures, experiences and backgrounds. I have lived in the United States for a few months as well and I love it.
I love doing random short road trips, getaways, staycation and holidays.
My favourite travel destination has been Iceland so far. Visiting the volcanoes in Fagradalsfjall, and just viewing the Skógafoss waterfall is tremendous. I also have fond memories, of touring Jewish museums with friends in Prague, visiting pubs in Berlin, and strolling the streets of Paris as I get groceries in the evening near the Place de La Concorde. Sitting in the courtyard at Piazza St Marco in Venice sipping Pinot Noir and listening to iconic live band music at night has been remarkable.
When I am not travelling I like running, hiking and playing water polo with my mates (recently started learning water polo and it’s been good so far). Sports and exercise are not just for the body because they build strength, but have been great for my mental health as well as for building friends. For me, it kills 3 birds with one stone, if you will.
1. Why this, why now?
I’ve been writing since 2020 during the start of the pandemic on the “Medium platform” and that has become a creative outlet for me to share in the personal finance space. I’ve continued to grow and evolve as a writer over the years.
The response has been overwhelming and I couldn't be happier.
Some articles have gone viral and I am extremely grateful to everyone that has supported and followed my writing since day 1. I am truly grateful.
2. What kind of community am I looking to build here?
Personally, I am not looking to just start some newsletter that people read, get inspired and forget. I hope to build a community that reflects on their personal finance journey and how they can get better daily. People that support each other on this journey.
They say that when you associate yourself with people who lift you to their level, you get better over time. I believe that by connecting with like-minded individuals we get to strengthen each other's personal finance skills.
You are very important in this journey, I truly believe that. Every single one of you. Hence, I would like to invite you to be part of this community.
3. Specifics of this community and newsletter
I aim to be posting 2 times a week.
1 free post and 1 paid post.
My post will be mainly geared towards the following topics:
Personal Finance
Investing
Entrepreneurship
I also cover topics on the following in addition to personal finance to add a little variety:
Mindset
Self-improvement
Health and Fitness
Relationships and self-care
Free subscribers would gain a lot through the articles that they may find helpful by following along and to be honest I do “not” plan to sell any courses. I believe information should be readily available as you read, grow and learn over time. I have NO courses to sell to you.
Paid subscribers get to read all the articles that come out as they do in real-time. There are no paywalls or restrictions on any posted articles. You get access to all published articles that come out.
This incentivises me to continue growing and doing what I love best by creating quality content for the community to read and engage with.
4. Welcome to this journey and “subscribe” below
Hope that you will join me in this journey as we grow from strength to strength and build our personal finances and growth together. I look forward to going on this journey together!
